About me

I have edited nearly four hundred novels, memoirs, children’s books, and nonfiction titles for authors, publishing houses, a large print-on-demand self-publishing platform, and e-book publication.

I edit for new authors as well as experienced ones. I particularly enjoy working with those for whom English is a second language.  I have a knack for polishing prosekcaldwellsteffen while helping authors to find their voices.

I work in Word, using Track Changes, enabling authors to see the edited “clean” manuscript or examine  each editing change individually and accept or reject it. Authors can also see my comments, questions, explanations, and suggestions for improving the manuscript.

Editing is collaborative. It’s a conversation about a book that makes the book better.  I love to read; I love to write; and I love to talk about books.

Maddie Dawson, bestselling author of The Stuff That Never Happened, The Opposite of Maybe, The Survivor’s Guide to Family Happiness, and Matchmaking for Beginners:

I am Matchmaking for Beginnersso lucky to have Kim in my life! She is one of those rare editors who always knows exactly what to do to strengthen a piece of writing. And she does it with kindness and sensitivity and an almost uncanny intuitive sense of what the author intended. She’s great at helping develop the story line and character arcs, and she’s equally good at finding and correcting those pesky grammatical and continuity errors.

She has edited all seven of my published novels, and I wouldn’t dream of submitting a manuscript without her help. It’s truly a pleasure to work with her.

Kim has a unique ability to tune into the message and spirit of a book. I valued her wise and direct feedback, which she communicated with warmth and insight.

She has a true understanding of the emotional challenges writers face, and her belief in me—and my writing—carried me through the periods of self-doubt that most writers face.

Without reservation, I would recommend her editing services to both new and seasoned writers.
